Merley First School

School Council

Our School Council/Pupil Voice

Our school council is a group of children who are elected to represent the views of all pupils in our school and to help improve our school.

There are two representatives from each class from Reception to Year 4. These representatives are elected by their classmates every term. In the Spring Term, we are joined by 2 members from our Reception class.  Each representative wears an official 'School Council' badge.

Class representative’s feedback to their class as soon as possible after our meetings and the minutes of the meeting are placed on the School Council Board in the corridor. Classes have a suggestion book where children are able to write in their suggestions and their class representatives can bring them along to the school council meetings to be discussed.

13.05.2021 - This week our Pupil voice discussion was based on the question

Why is a library important? How can we take care of ours?

Mrs Baldwin led our class assembly with a video explaining how the library is organised, how we can look after it and the different types of books available. We are very lucky to have so many lovely books to read and stories to enjoy!

There are brilliant local libraries and there is more information on the BCP and dorset  websites about their locations and events
