Smart Free Environment
Merley First School does not allow pupils to bring Smart devices to school in line with our Behaviour Policy and Department for Education guidance—including the DfE Mobile Phones in Schools Guidance and Keeping Children Safe in Education—pupils are not permitted to bring smart devices or personal electronic technologies to school.
Electronic devices or any technologies that are used to communicate or smart technologies should not be brought to school. These include:
-
Mobile phones
-
Tablets
-
Smartwatches and smart fitness trackers (with messaging, camera, or cellular capabilities)
-
Portable gaming consoles or smart audio devices
If a pupil requires a smart device for essential medical monitoring (e.g., continuous glucose monitoring systems for diabetes), an exception will be made as part of their Medical Care Plan. Parents must arrange and agree this in advance with the school SENCo or Headteacher.
